Sculpture on the Edge is an outdoor sculpture prize held on the escarpment of the stunning Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Maleny. Held annually, at Spicers Tamarind Retreat it attracts renowned artists from all around Australia. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the picturesque 18-acre property which provides a unique setting for site specific works and installations.

Awards will be announced on 31 October 2020 and the public are invited to attend this twilight viewing and opening of the exhibition. Mingle with the artists and join us for drinks and a travelling feast from 3.30pm onwards.

Now in its tenth year, Sculpture on the Edge continues to grow. With the kind support of our sponsors and partners, primarily Spicers Tamarind Retreat and the Sunshine Coast Council, we are able to deliver to art lovers and visitors to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland an amazing art experience.

The exhibition opens on October 31st and continues until 15 November 2020.

Bigger and better than ever, this Contemporary Sculpture Exhibition set in the beautiful rainforest retreat of Spicers Tamarind, is the premier art destination event on the Sunshine Coast.

Presented by Arts Connect Inc, the Award offers sculptors $6,500 in prize money this year and is expected to see over 5000 visitors throughout the exhibition

Sculptors from all over Queensland and Australia are invited to create unique sculptural artworks which work within the environment, complementing the stunning natural landscape as part of the Spicers Tamarind Retreat.

Sculpture on the Edge (SOTE) was initially a collaboration with Maleny Garden Clubs’ Open Gardens Festival in 2010. That success led to a stand-alone event in 2011, sponsored by the Spicer’s Group. Initially works were installed at Spicer’s Clovelly, Montville, but since 2012 work has been displayed in the grounds of  Spicer’s Tamarind Retreat, Maleny.
